Parker Smith: Painting Contractor

The theme of Parkers presentation this week was how to get the biggest band for your buck when hiring any contractor!

The key is to do your homework!

When hiring a painting contractor, he suggested calling friends and paint or building suppliers for referrals. Once you have a list of names, make your initial calls.

How do you go about reducing your list?
Consider how promptly they returned your call for starters.

1. Ask each contractor for their CCB# and call to make sure it is still valid.
2. Get the name and number of their liability insurance provider.
3. Ask about their employee safety training and drug testing programs.

Finally, referrals both good or bad should be recent! Ask for the contact information of three customers a contractor worked for the previous week or two. If they can't provide them, think twice about hiring them.
